So hands up how many people opened their Doctor Who advent calendar the way it was supposed to be opened? Door by door, day by day, rather than just ripping the whole thing open last November. I did it the slow way and it was fabulous. I noticed that some doors were bigger than others and so the 4th, 9th, 14th, 20th and 24th of December were eagerly anticipated. The smaller doors all contained chocolate squares embossed with a TARDIS or a Dalek, but the 4th and (disappointingly) the 24th had gold foil wrapped Doctor Who coins, the 9th had a brilliant little TARDIS pencil-topper, the 14th a cute-but usless little Dalek pad, but the best was the 20th, where a tiny but perfectly formed gold Dalek pencil-topper was revealed. I so wanted the 24th to have a black Dalek Sec lurking behind it. Counting down to Christmas has never been so much fun.
