Postcards from Time and Space - A new release of 100 postcards packed inside a nice slick and compact case, this has been an item I've anticipated ever since it was announced several months ago and the finished item is bigger in size than I'd expected.
There are sets of postcards out there for 'Doctor Who' but these are usually sold in no more than a dozen cards a set and as a visual record and momento of the series are always appreciated, move that to 100 cards and obviously it's almost a must have item... if the pictures and imagery are worthwhile.
I'm happy to report that they are and this is indeed a worthwhile buy!
The cards are printed on thick non-gloss card stock and this probobly adds to the weight and size of the set overall, the case they come in is quite robust and is patterned on the Tardis, with it opening up to show the Tardis' Interior. There is no seperation of the pictures into distinct subjects but when looking through them it is clear there is a mixture of the BBC promotional montages, off-screen shots, Publicity Shots, the series Logo, stock characters & Aliens and some apparently made up imagery based on catchphrases used in the series. The top and bottom is that if you have a favorite publicity image used in the 11th Doctor era it's likely in here! There's the additional element of several cards from earlier Tennant stories, while only one features Tennant himself(with Matt Smith alongside!) you get a publicity shot from New Earth with Novice Hame, Gallifrey from Last of the Timelords, Davros, Sycorax and a shot from Silence in the Library. This is essentially an 11th Doctor set however.
The only thing I can criticise is that the pictures tend to be printed out quite dark, this is possibly the downside of the printing process and not anticipating a shift down in the hue and brightness because of it, it means the pictures tend to suffer as a lot of the detail and depth has been smothered out. This wouldn't be so much of an issue once upon a time but here in an era of digital photography our expectations are quite higher and this is a little dissapointing. But all in all a set of cards well worth your time finding!
RRP is £14.99 but online I bought mine at £7.99, good hunting.
